What does Olive Leave Extract Do?
Olive leaf extract (oleuropein) is a natural wide-spectrum antibiotic, anti-bacterial, anti-viral,
anti-fungal compound. Unlike synthetic antibiotics, it destroys only the bad bacteria and protects
the good. Medical research suggests that when Oleuropein is taken orally, it searches out and
"inactivates" the bacteria. It does this by dissolving the outer lining of the infectious germs
and then it penetrates the infected cells, thus inhibiting the replication of the bacteria. The
key to olive leaf extract is a bitter phytochemical compound called Oleuropein extracted from the
leaves of the Mission and Manzanillo olive trees.
Oleuropein is a diastercomeric indoide, which means that its molecule reflects light in both the
left and right handed direction (levortatory and dextortatory). It also means that it has phyto-nutrients
with therapeutic potency sensitive to excessive heat, as can be generated during an extraction process.
Recognition of these characteristics during the manufacturing process is the key to why some olive leaf
extracts work and others do not.
How can Olive Leaf Extract boost the immune system?
